A restful, infinite day

The way we live our days is the way we live our lives. Someone said: Days are long and years are short. So what's in a day? And what if we swapped the earth-seven-day-week for infinity today? Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:

"The numerals of infinity, called seven days, can never be reckoned according to the calendar of time. These days will appear as mortality disappears, and they will reveal eternity, newness of Life, in which all sense of error forever disappears and thought accepts the divine infinite calculus." (p. 520)

That is calling me to contemplate again and again. Everything we need to know is present in the now. No retrogression, only newness of Life. No ups and downs, only goodness, beauty, stunning perfection. Divine qualities are eternal creations, as the newness of Life, existence in good, in Spirit, appears now. Eternal unfoldment in which all is one and all is spiritual and good. So living in God is totally unlike serving a sentence in prison in solitary confinement - in God no one is ever alone and freedom is the signature of Truth.

As exploring spiritual creation is certainly not done with an absent mind, but is a commitment to spiritual progress, we have much to see and to learn. With an adventurous spirit and a willingness to let uncomplaining selflessness shape our days, in some healing and constructive work. In the same passage, a few lines up, Mary Baker Eddy writes:

"God rests in action. Imparting has not impoverished, can never impoverish the divine Mind. No exhaustion follows the action of this Mind, according to the apprehension of divine Science. The highest and sweetest rest, even from a human standpoint, is in holy work."

Yesterday I was informed that I needed for an application a preparatory appointment with a different institution within the next two weeks. As I started to make the phone calls I learned that the earliest possible dates were already booked for the next three months. So here I was: Chronological logic blocked the way to a right endeavour. It was such gladness to take out of the equation any pressure and stress and to explore the goodness of Life. Any good endeavour or motive has no side effects - we don't need to buy something good by paying the prize of stress and worry. It is all good. For a moment chronological time disappeared for me and the infinite goodness of Love was tangibly present. And then, out of the blue, an appointment in seven days appeared and was booked.

​The seven holy days of creation in Genesis 1 are not chronological days but aspects of the one stupendous wholeness of Life in the here and now. It fills an eternal life to explore them. In talking about Genesis 1 my husband mentioned that one might think about the seven days as different spaces which one could explore like  rooms in a house. I have also experienced quick and surprising healings by understanding the presence of all seven days in my present day. The seven days are all about freedom - they are possibilities - offerings of Truth and Life to tell us that there is no end to exploring and living.
