"...the very heavens shall laugh at them..."

"What you take by force you can only maintain by force." This insight was voiced by Mahatma Gandhi, and it is one of those propositions that are self-evident. History has shown this to be true for countries - and for individual lives as well. We all can only win by Love and Truth. On this basis John wrote: "Let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." (I John 3:18)

Many Europeans are deeply cherishing the truth that Truth has always the last word and that persistence and resilience and love always win. Berliners have experienced this when prayers and persistent peace brought down the wall in 1989. I live in Berlin and I vividly remember the Russian tanks as I found my way to the radio station where I worked as an anchor at the time. Today citizens in continental Europe and in the UK are donating food, baby strollers, diapers, clothing - and taking in refugees. We help at train stations with thousands arriving every day. Volunteers built a kid's space at the main trainstation (please take note of the girl's beautiful Ukrainian hairdo in the photo taken a few days ago). Several church members have taken into their homes refugees and are offering a guest bed. Everybody donates something. We all pray, constantly. It is a relief to know that only Good is law, that there is no other law than God's law - "the government shall be on his shoulder". (Isa. 9:6)

Everywhere in the world we can deeply love God and our fellowman more; we all can work towards a world which knows no fear and cherish the same truth. We all can feel and know that Truth has the last word - and the only word. Mary Baker Eddy writes in Miscellaneous Writings:

​“And remember, a pure faith in humanity will subject one to deception; the uses of good, to abuses from evil; and calm strength will enrage evil. But the very heavens shall laugh at them, and move majestically to your defense when the armies of earth press hard upon you.”
