There is a mental space for you, a free space. This space is the reason why we can make good and independent choices today. Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: „There is moral freedom in SOUL.“ I saw this freedom as a mental space when I read this for the first time. „You have the freedom at all times to think and do the right thing then“, I thought. "You are free to be a happy, independent, harmonious idea - because that is what we are: God's own." No peer pressure, no fear can enter this space, the consciousness of good, in which God rules. No deadlock or blackout is possible here for SOUL is preserving your identity and individuality – for ever. This space is the reason why healing is real. We are free to get up mentally and go home. This space is the reason why harmony is real. We are free to get up and leave a relationship that is dragging us down or an institution that is not in sync with our spiritual thirst. We are free to doing the right thing. Nothing feels better than to know: “There is moral freedom in SOUL.” „Get up, take your mat and go home.” That is what Jesus told a disabled man. Laying there in front of him. Surrounded by people either worried or looking at the man with the contempt of those who have less to deal with. Jesus said: „Get up, take your mat and go home.” And he did. He understood that he had the freedom to doing the right thing: To go home. In our own mental space, we might also hear something like this: Get up. Be a law to yourself. This law is in your favor. Claim it. Take your mat. Bundle together your raddled stuff. You don’t really need it anymore, because I am All and I am giving you everything you’ll ever need and so much more. Go home. Cherish your being as God’s child and feel at home. Be safe in the consciousness of good. Do what is normal, be at home. „There is moral freedom in Soul.” We are free to doing the right thing. _________ This hymn is a much beloved hymn all over the world, sung (loud or quiet) and prayed in homes and churches, prisons, rest&study centers, private gardens, exam halls, trains, cars, living rooms, parks, shopping malls, airplanes, town halls, revenue boards, hospitals, rehearsal rooms. There is a fresh setting by Andrew Brewis in the New Hymnal of Christian Science songs, which you might enjoy to check out here. I love Thy way of freedom, Lord, / To serve Thee is my choice, / In Thy clear light of Truth I rise / And, listening for Thy voice, / I hear Thy promise old and new, / That bids all fear to cease: / My presence still shall go with thee / And I will give thee peace. / Though storm or discord cross my path / Thy power is still my stay, / Though human will and woe would check / My upward-soaring way; / All unafraid I wait, the while / Thy angels bring release, / For still Thy presence is with me, / And Thou dost give me peace. / I climb, with joy, the heights of Mind, / To soar o'er time and space; / I yet shall know as I am known / And see Thee face to face. / Till time and space and fear are naught / My quest shall never cease, / Thy presence ever goes with me / And Thou dost give me peace. |
