When you expect guests - and even if it is a close friend coming over - you look around, and you do a little prep, a little organizing, a little cleaning, a little touch. Magazines are shoveled aside, documents stacked on a pile - a quick cleaning around the house, seven minutes.
We get sometimes more done in these short „prep minutes" before the door bell rings than in an entire week. We might think that the reason for that is that we want to look good and present home and ourselves in the best possible way.
I don’t think that this is the whole truth, we can look deeper. Negative thinking is so unimaginative and cannot possibly see the whole picture. It doesn’t know where we stand, what we are, it doesn’t support our upward ways and outward paths.
Spiritual intuition is showing us how the true motive is already there, hidden in small, good moments. And the true motive is this: We truly want to be better because of others. We improve and grow because of them. Even if they don’t tell us or don’t mean it. We are better because of others.
I wonder whether this is so because our most inner self knows that we all belong together. There is one Life only, one spiritual Life we all share. We are Life’s presentation - Life’s „speaking“ to Life listening with pure attention. The only life we have to live is the unselfish life, the life in which is merciful room for all.
