I had to solve a technical problem in my house. An artisanal challenge. I tend to think that I am not good with practical questions, but I keep learning. In this case I had to keep learning for a long stretch of time. I tried with several types of screwdrivers all kinds of options, and especially one screw didn't comply. I tried to reach someone through a hotline, in vain, I looked at manuals and Youtube videos. Well. And then two insights kicked in. I left this scene and let two insights expand and grow in my heart and consciousness, melting away impatience and putting me on the path of confidence.
First, I could see that this project was solvable and the answer was within reach. Am I living in an empty universe? No, we all live in the world of infinite Love - a universe filled with ever present ideas, a very real power. In Love we live and move and think and breathe, and no problem is ever without a solution. Creation is one infinite solution and we are living right in it.
Second, I started to speak to the screw - actually more to the idea it represents. And the one thing I acknowledged was usefulness. Being useful is a meaningful thing to me. If being asked what I would like to be or to do I think: To be useful in some way. This insight goes back to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy:
"All of God's creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible. A realization of this grand verity was a source of strength to the ancient worthies. It supports Christian healing, and enables its possessor to emulate the example of Jesus. “And God saw that it was good.” (SH 514:28)
Harmless, useful, indestructible.
Usefulness is a real thing. Living inside the solution is a way to describe God's new world, Her/His creation. This change of perspective moved me from struggling with an unsolvable problem to the joy of perceiving a solution as ever present, infinite, and always at hand.
