Divine Love's attraction is a mighty pull, guiding, guarding, protecting, unifying, healing. One of the earliest testimonies of God as Love is from Exodus and sounds like this: "The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth." (Exodus 34: 6) Do we need to earn this love? Are there conditions attached to feeling the effects of divine Love in our experience?
"God wants us to know His perfection and peace. “I loved you yesterday, I love you still, I always have, I always will”—a sweet quote found in friendship books—captures the essence of God’s love for each of us. Just as we might say that it is natural for Principle to be and for Mind to know, I have come to pray with the thought that it is natural for Love to will—to will our eternal purity and perfection as its image and likeness." This quote is from an article that grew out of many months of quiet thought, prayer, and research, including really listening to and thinking deeply about the parable of the prodigal, as taught and related by Christ Jesus. I shared my insights first in a blog post on this site and expanded these concepts with the help of the editors of the Christian Science Sentinel for an article. The article is being published January 16, 2017, and here is the link to it. Have a happy year in the consciousness of acceptance, in the presence of divine Love, which will never go away.
