"God is intelligence. Can we inform the infinite Mind of anything He does not already comprehend?" (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health, p. 2)
Why pass on something so gigantic as infinite Mind - which means right here, right now, always near unending, boundless, unlimited access to sublime knowledge, all the information we will ever need --- for anything! Infinite Mind is the source of all the capacity for logic. It is understanding, it is self-aware, it plans, it is creative, it is constructive, it can figure out anything. Divine Mind can imagine and does imagine anything good and powerful, it thinks, analyses, knows. Divine Mind contains everything there is to know and ever will be to know. It is also the ultimate and only hard drive of creation, the memory of Life. What divine Mind doesn't know doesn't exist, so comprehensive, universal, extensive, and profound is its knowledge. Because divine Mind remembers, we are. Because divine Mind remembers, ideas are eternal. Everything within Mind has identity, continuity, and a precise position within creation. This source of knowledge is so near and makes itself known so clearly continually, that I felt impelled to ask my mom as a teenager in all honesty a serious question: Is not thinking and living with divine Mind during a test almost cheating? It felt like that. I love prayer and listening, and I got all my answers I needed, I often knew intuitively what was needed and I still feel that intuition is a way of thinking, but thinking without process. Instantaneous thinking. Simply by quietly listening to divine Mind or rather being so in sync with divine Mind that the right thing feels--- well, right. Living with this source is like living with a friend. You know how Mind speaks when you spend time with it --- like with a friend. And then I forget. Like yesterday. I needed to retrieve a ticket booked months ago. It was hidden somewhere. More than a solid hour I tried everything in my powers to find this ticket - everything from trying many different passwords and accounts, chats with customer services, looking through emails and other communications to simply being impatient and criticizing myself for not having taken better care of the ticket when I had paid for it. More than a solid hour, almost one hour and a half, I looked and searched, and frankly not at all peaceful and relaxed. Where was this ticket, for heaven's sakes? And then I remembered. Divine Mind knows everything. Divine Mind is described in the Bible as a Father. And Christian Science adds Mother. Father-Mother. Divine Mind acts indeed like a parent, actually divine Mind is our parent. Divine Mind's infinite ideas are us, we are within a field, a universe of ideas, and we are one of the infinite number of ideas, continuing the count. So I simply asked Mind for an idea. And within two minutes I had the ticket. It was stunning. And humbling. Again. Asking divine Mind is the ultimate shortcut to any solution. A supreme, superb intelligence, refined, precise, direct, and completely benevolent. In Bible talk it sounds like this, in the first letter of Peter, chapter 5: "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." (KJV) Or as the Living Bible renders this same passage: "If you humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, in his good time he will lift you up. Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you." Comments are closed.
