"When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of Thine hands."
(Job 22:29, 30) When discovering this Bible passage recently, I was in awe. One of the spiritual truth I cherish very much is the truth that man is innocent. This insight into the nature of man is the basis for my practice. It represents the high standing man has with God and it expresses the fundamental fact of being: Man is not guilty. Man is innocent. Man is God's special joy and extraordinary creation - designed for a particular purpose: To express God's goodness, symmetry, and majestic glory in qualities such as mercy, justice, health, and holiness. That is man's sole purpose, and man is extraordinarily well equipped to fulfill this purpose. There is never a moment when man is not linked to God - to Life, Truth, and Love. There is never a moment when man is not empowered with joy and strengthened by spiritual energy. There is never a moment when man's purpose is unclear, blurred or even in question. As thought rises to a higher plane, it clearly sees that anything unlike man's noble state of being is not so much a fact as it is a proposal, an offering to think small and a suggestion to subtract God out of the picture. As if the very essence of being could be questioned and life could still make sense. As we acknowledge with gratitude and humility our relationship to God we feel the truth of the spirituality of our being and we know: I am an individual, spiritual consciousness, made in the image and likeness of God, always integrated into a marvellous, most holy and sacred creation of the one eternal Mind, the reflection of infinite Love, the emanation of Truth, the expression of endless Life. I am what God makes me to be. I am what God is seeing in me and has put into me. Thought leaves behind a sense of a human ego and recognises the purity and innocency of life. Our real life is innocent and pure, transparent and rich like the morning light. Can you see that each single idea of God has an "island of the innocent" - a place of acknowledgment of God's purity and grace? Your conscience approves, and thought loves to bathe in the purifying waters of reflection, enjoying the deliverance "by the pureness of Thine hands", the hands of Love, our origin of being. "When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of Thine hands." (Job 22:29, 30) Comments are closed.
