Presence! Presence means the existence of someone or something in a certain space. It can also mean a being which is in company near or before the face of another. The German word for "presence" literally means "against waiting".
For some time now I am seeing more and more the effortlessness of presence. To be present is no work, it does not take effort. It simply means being there.
God is characterized in many sacred writings including the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy as an ever-present help and an omnipresent Being. I invite you and encourage you to ponder and listen to and pray with this fundamental law of creation. Mary Baker Eddy uses both words - ever-present and omnipresent - in one paragraph and writes:
"Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment. What a glorious inheritance is given to us through the understanding of omnipresent Love! More we cannot ask: more we do not want: more we cannot have. This sweet assurance is the “Peace, be still” to all human fears, to suffering of every sort."
(Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, p. 307:2)
We can become willing to learn all things right today. We can stop denying the presence of Good today and experience that we will have all we need, right here, this very moment. Presence is effortless.
